Level 4 - Post 4 (week 6) > Themed Post 2

The strangest repeated dream you’ve had.
Image result for man flying over a city
Dreams are a whole unknown dimension, I believe it is not possible that all of them might be entirely untrue, anyway, we spend a great part of our lives sleeping and dreaming so, it
might be that they not only represent a subjective part of ourselves but it might constitute a whole reality on its own.
My dreams in general are not so strange and neither have I had many repeated ones in my life, most of the time I don’t even remember what I dreamt he night before, but there is one particular dream I have had several times, but more than a dream, it’s the feeling of having dreamt it.
I picture myself over sunset in the streets of a big and people-empty city; at some point of the dream I start having physical sensations, as though I was having to lift a very heavy weight and finally I end up rising from the floor and flying. I make a great physical effort to go beyond the line of the buildings and start flying over the empty city which is now entering a dark night-time. I fly and fly and start losing the strength and I cannot longer go up beyond the level of the buildings and at some point of the dream, I just can’t go on flying because I am too tired and then I just wake up, as tired as in the dream.
I have talked about this dream with friends, family, therapists and no plausible conclusion or interpretation I have drawn from it. I just think it’s one of those stressful feelings that one can have at the back of one’s mind for ages and that will disappear whenever the time for it comes. Certainly, this dream is not bizarre, and neither anguishing; It has not really interfered with my circadian rate and therefore I have never paid a lot of attention to it, maybe that is why I have no interpretation.
Perhaps I will continue perceiving myself as though flying over and empty city at night, and even, I might continue waking up tired for having dreamt about the same, but as of now, I am sure this dream is not a nightmare, it’s just that I might want to fly so badly, that even my subconscious is showing me that feeling.

  1. Well, as you said in the beginning of the post, dreams are something special and contain truths of ourselves that we ignore. I consider they are nightmares when you wake up anguished and scare.

  5. It is weird that "a feeling of having dreamt it" sounds to me like kind of vague and hard to remember but then you describe your dream in a very detailed way! This dream must have made an impact in you, for sure.

  6. Maybe this is part of that feeling of wanting to get rid of the bonds ... we are taught that the body is more a limiting than instead of being ourselves, and perhaps that is why in dreams one also struggles with oneself to escape. In sleep or in life.

  7. Interesting dream. I've dreamt with flying too, and I love it. Do you believe in the meaning of the dreams? I think only you can decipher your dreams, because they are something so personal, so intimate, that is difficult that another people can decode its meanings.

  9. Once I dreamed that people were telling me that I could fly. I tried too hard but could not get off the ground. I was flying like a chicken. That was anguishing.

  10. Dreams are like this: strange, funny, illogical. But it's true you say, they belong to another dimension of the subconscious :)

  12. I would like dream that I fly but I never dream it, only float over floor...
Your dream can be interpreted as a constant effort that reaches a limit...
Everything must fall by it's own weight, right?

  13. I dream very weird things, but when my dreams get a little bit more normal or real, I wake up like this, like feeling there's something that my mind is trying to tell me.

  15. I never repeat my dreams, at least not that I know. Once I dreamed of flying, but it was more like a bird way, than a superman kind, and I enjoyed a lot, I wish that one can be repeated.
